Despite being the new face of the NHL, Connor McDavid hasn’t exactly been known to showcase his personality.

That appears to be changing ever so slightly this offseason.

On Tuesday, McDavid tweeted out a promotional video for EA Sports’ NHL 18 in which he asks the “fans” who should grace the cover of the video game franchise. It’s a solid comedic effort from McDavid, who is joined in the spot by his brother Cam and manager Adam Phillips.

He absolutely nails his role as Allen, a charming analytics expert from down south. The fidget spinner at the end is also the perfect reminder that despite his success, he’s still just a kid who probably didn’t play an NHL video game until mid-2000s.

It’s the second video in the last week that McDavid has put some personality on display. Last week, McDavid starred alongside San Jose Sharks’ Brent Burns in a series of entertaining ads for CCM.

As Sidney Crosby has shown, being the face of the NHL doesn’t mean McDavid needs to turn into P.K. Subban, but it’s nice to see him put down the hockey cliches once in a while.

NHL 18 will be released worldwide on Sept. 15.
