Cabarrus County leaders approve incentives to bring NASCAR expansion to Concord
NASCAR Productions is one step closer to moving to Concord.
On Monday, Cabarrus County commissioners voted four to one to approve an incentive-laden package to support bringing the production facility to Concord.
The county said yes to providing a three-year grant worth as much as $525,000. Revenues could exceed $90,000.
Last week, the Concord City Council unanimously approved an economic development incentive to help the move.

The plan relocates NASCAR’s productions operations from Charlotte to a new technology center near the Concord airport, according to the Cabarrus Economic Development Corporation.
The move brings 125 jobs to the city with the potential for more positions to be added over time.
The incentive package includes benefits totaling $340,986 over three years.
NASCAR plans to invest more than $28 million to spur the technology center at 7550 West Winds Boulevard Northwest, off Derita Road near the existing NASCAR Research and Development Center in the West Winds Business Park.

NASCAR Productions, the television and video production division of the racing company, would be housed in the 58,000 square-foot facility that would include studios, production facilities and office spaces. The building also offers space for expansion.
“NASCAR has been part of our community’s fabric for decades,” said Page Castrodale, executive director of Cabarrus Economic Development Corporation. “We are so pleased that the success they have found in Concord so far has allowed them to grow here.”
NASCAR still has to sign off on the move to make it official.
