Companies to Watch: Salesforce buys Tableau, Comstock Resources deal, Microsoft's new Xbox

Here are the companies Yahoo Finance is watching today.

Huge merger news as Salesforce (CRM) buys Tableau Software (DATA) in a $15.7 billion dollar deal. The deal is part of the company's effort to increase its work in data visualization. After making the announcement, shares of Tableau were up more than 30% in pre-market but have since dropped.

Comstock Resources (CRK) announced it's buying up natural gas company Covey Park in a $2.2 billion dollar deal with debt. Comstock said the cash and stock deal would expand its role in Haynesville shale, a natural gas basin in Louisiana and Texas.

Microsoft (MSFT) is looking towards the future. The company unveiled details of the next generation Xbox at Electronic Entertainment Expo. The new device, codenamed Project Scarlett, will be four times more powerful than the Xbox One X. It'll also support 8K games and run 40-times faster. Expect it to hit stores shelves sometime next year.

FedEx (FDX) announced it's opting out of its Express service with Amazon. The home delivery company said it's choosing to focus on the quote "broader e-commerce market." Amazon's business only accounted for about 1% of FedEx's total revenue in 2018 and isn't expected to impact the company's other Amazon contracts.

Universal's (CMCSA) “The Secret Life of Pets 2” dominated at the box office over the weekend. The family-friendly film brought in about $47 million dollars, beating out the highly anticipated superhero film “Dark Phoenix,” which came in second this weekend opening to only an estimated $33 million dollars. That's the lowest opening for a film in the X-Men franchise.
