NorCal D-IV tournament

Lincoln (SF) 53, Gridley 50

The No. 11 seeded Bulldogs' road came to an end Tuesday, falling to sixth-seed Lincoln (San Francisco) in the opening round of the NorCal state D-IV tournament.

"We were pretty cold in the first quarter but played well enough to keep it close," Gridley head boys basketball coach Nathan Link said. "Played well, winning both the 2nd and 3rd quarters to lead 43-36 going to the 4th."

However, Link noted that Lincoln's speed took over in the final quarter and held off a last gasp shot at the buzzer from Gridley to win.

Aaron Kullar led Gridley (22-7) with 18 points, while Travus Boyd added 13.

Lincoln hosts No. 14 Monterey today in the D-IV quarters.

Gridley won a Northern Section Division IV title over the weekend against University Prep at Shasta College.
