Week 4
Trending Up:

John Simon, outside linebacker: As has been the case for all throughout the season, Simon is on the trending up list. Every Colts fan knows Simon by now so the next step for him is being recognized by the league and by his peers for the superstar level of football he is playing right now. I easily see Simon being a Pro Bowler this season if he keeps up his play.

Jacoby Brissett, quarterback: Brissett played his best game in a Colt uniform. He scored three total touchdowns and destroyed the Browns defense with his cannon arm and with his legs too. Brissett is gathering attention from all of the league and is drawing comparisons with Tampa Bay’s quarterback Jameis Winston because if his body type, poise and his style of play. Brissett could be traded for a kings ransom this offseason if he continues to play at this level, as the demand for quarterbacks is at an all time high.

T.Y. Hilton, wide receiver: Hilton promised the Colts would not start the season at 0-3, it is safe to say he delivered on his word. Hilton had his best game of the season as he abused the Browns secondary for 145 yards on six catches and a touchdown. Hilton finally developed some sort of chemistry with Brissett; it is expected that they both keep up their solid numbers.

Rashaan Melvin, cornerback: Melvin had two interceptions on Sunday and also 4 pass deflections. After being graded as the best cornerback in all of the NFL last Sunday by Pro Football Focus, Melvin continued his elite level of play and once Vontae Davis returns they could form an impressive cornerback tandem, something the Colts have lacked in the Grigson era.

Malik Hooker, safety: Hooker recorded his second interception in as many career starts and he looks like the defensive playmaking, offense-breaking safety that he was drafted to be. Hooker was expected to help change this defense but he was not expected to be so good straight out of the gate. He still has room for improvement in some areas but there is optimism that the Colts landed a future All-Pro with the 15th overall pick in the draft.

Jon Bostic, inside linebacker: Bostic played like the guy he was supposed to be coming out of training camp. Bostic posted a solid stat line, leading the game with 10 tackles and even recording a QB hit and a pass deflection. If Bostic continues playing at this level then the Colts found even another solid pickup in free agency’s garbage bin.

Trending Down:

Al Woods, nose tackle: Woods made very little impact on Sundays game, even failing to register a single tackle. His lack of production was shown in the box score, as the Browns rushed all over the Colts defense. Woods needs to find consistency because if he continues playing like this then the rush defense will surely suffer.

Jack Doyle, tight end: After being the most reliable target on offense for the Colts in the first two games Doyle finally came back to earth as he posted one of his worst games in his tenure as starter for the Colts. He recorded only two catches and even lost a fumble. His poor performance was masked by Hilton’s great game, but he must leave this game behind and continue to be the quarterbacks best friend on offense.
