NFL Colts’ snap count analysis from Week 2 win over Texans
The Indianapolis Colts (1-1) grabbed their first victory of the young season with a 31-20 win over the Houston Texans (0-2) in Week 2 at NRG Stadium.
It was a pretty dominant effort from the Colts, who held a lead of no fewer than seven points at any point during the game.
Here’s a look at the snap counts on offense, defense and special teams, followed by our analysis below:

Analysis
RB Zack Moss was the only back to see any snaps on offense. He played 98% of the snaps and took 100% of the backfield carries.
WRs Alec Pierce and Michael Pittman Jr. continued to dominate the snaps at the top of the depth chart while rookie Josh Downs has solidified his role as the starting slot option.
Rookie TE Will Mallory made his debut in Week 2, playing on 19% of the snaps.
QB Anthony Richardson played 32% of the snaps before exiting due to a concussion.
C Wesley French played 32% of the snaps filling in for Ryan Kelly, who is in the concussion protocol.
Defense
Analysis
Defenders who played 100% of the snaps: S Julian Blackmon, CB Kenny Moore II, S Rodney Thomas II, LB Zaire Franklin and CB Dallis Flowers.
CB Darrell Baker Jr. again played as the third quarterback in the room behind Flowers and Moore.
LB Shaquille Leonard saw a decrease in snaps from Week 1 (86%) to Week 2 (71%) while E.J. Speed saw an increase from 41% to 54%.
Special Teams
Analysis
CB Tony Brown (83%) and LB Segun Olubi (83%) led the team in special teams snaps. They were followed closely by LB E.J. Speed (79%).
WR Isaiah McKenzie fielded one punt as a fair catch and another was a touchback.
CB Dallis Flowers didn’t get to return any of the five kickoffs. He called two fair catches (because of the new rule) and the three others were touchbacks.
P Rigoberto Sanchez had five punts in the game, averaging 44.0 yards per punt with two landing inside the 20-yard line.
