Colts’ Frank Reich on Parris Campbell’s injury: ‘It didn’t look good’

The Indianapolis Colts (1-1) got a big win Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings (0-2) at Lucas Oil Stadium, but they may have lost a big part of the offense in wide receiver Parris Campbell.

The second-year wideout left Sunday’s game with a knee injury after taking a big hit from Vikings safety Harrison Smith. Campbell immediately clutched his left knee and had to be carted off the field after just two plays on offense.

Head coach Frank Reich told the media following the game that they are still in wait-and-see mode, but there isn’t a whole lot of optimism.

“No word yet (on the severity), but, man, that hurts,” said Reich on Sunday. “I’m hoping for the best, but you saw it: it didn’t look good. I’ll be honest with you. It happened right in front of me; it did not look good. But hoping and praying for the best.”

The Colts already lost starting running back Marlon Mack for the rest of the season due to a torn Achilles. Though we don’t yet know the severity of Campbell’s injury, everything indicates this could be a serious situation for the Ohio State product.

“I love Parris,” Reich said. “And so, for two weeks, in back-to-back weeks, to have Marlon and Parris go down like that — and we don’t know the extent of Parris’ injury yet, so I don’t want to jump to conclusions — but these are two great football players and two class acts, two great teammates. These guys are the best. And so we’re hoping for the best for Parris. We’ll have to wait and see.”

Should Campbell miss a long amount of time, wide receivers Michael Pittman Jr. and Zach Pascal will be working opposite T.Y. Hilton.
