Colquitt boys golf team finishes third at Spring Hill

Mar. 26—MOULTRIE — The Coffee High boys golf team shot a 312 for a 9-shot win in Monday's C.D. Moore Blue Devil Invitational held at Spring Hill Country Club in Tifton.

Ware County was second with a 321 and Colquitt County was third with a 331.

Tift County, the host team, shot a 337 and was fourth.

The Packers sent out four freshmen and a senior in their final turneup before Saturday's annual Packer Invitational to be held at Sunset County Club.

Colquitt's top three scores were turned in on Monday by ninth-graders.

Leighton Hood led the Packers and finished ninth overall out of 75 players with an 81.

Fellow freshmen Reese Hood and Peyton Collins each shot an 83.

Senior David Strange turned in an 84.

Freshmen Dawson Lane shot an 88.

Coffee will have an opportunity get two tournament wins in a row when they travel to Moultrie on Saturday for the Packer Invitational.

The 30-team event also will include two strong teams from Lowndes and Region 1-7A opponents Camden County and Valdosta.

The Packers also will have two teams in the field.

Also expected to play are Oconee County, Berrien, three teams from Smiths Station (Ala.), Auburn, two teams from North Paulding, Ware County, Carrollton, two teams from Hillgrove, Calvary Christian, Lee County, Toombs County, Morgan County, Brookwood, Pierce County, Charlton County, Elbert County, Altoona and Harris County.
