Colquitt boys golf team fifth in Viking Classic

Mar. 19—MOULTRIE — With sophomore Michael Hall turning in his fourth-straight all-tournament team-performance, the Colquitt County boys golf A team shot a 317 to place fifth in the Viking Classic held Monday at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta.

The Packers finished just nine shots behind the winning Lowndes Silver team, which shot a 307 on its home course.

The Lowndes Crimson team was second with a 309.

Pierce County shot a 312 and Tift County finished one shot better than the Packers at 316.

Colquitt also entered its B-team, which shot a 338, good for ninth on the 13-team event.

Hall shot a 74 to lead the Packers and freshman Reese Hood turned in a career tournament-low 77.

Also scoring for the Packers A team were two other freshmen: Peyton Collins, who had an 81, and Leighton Hood, shot an 85.

Senior David Strange had a 92.

The B team was led by freshman Dawson Lane, who carded a career tournament-best 81.

Jacob Rowell, also a freshman, had an 83; senior James Fagan, an 86; and junior Harrison Brown, an 88.

Sophomore Eddie Walden had a career tournament-best 90.

The Packers will play next on Monday, March 25, in the Blue Devil Invitational at Spring Hill Country Club in Tifton.
