Colorado inside linebackers coach Mark Smith was among the Boulder-area residents to lose his home and possessions in the wildfire that hit the community, the coach said Thursday night.
Smith, via Twitter, said the fire claimed "every material possession" his family had and that they would have to completely start over. Fortunately, it appears his family was unharmed.
As of Thursday evening, the Marshall Fire reportedly spans 1,600 acres and has destroyed an estimated 500 homes. Six people have been hospitalized with burns.

Smith is currently in his first season at Colorado after joining head coach Karl Dorrell's staff in February. Before that, he was the defensive coordinator at Long Island University and an assistant at Arkansas, SMU and Oklahoma.
