College roundup: Ridgewater Warriors runs past Western Tech 94-81

Jan. 7—WILLMAR — The Ridgewater men's basketball team won its first Minnesota College Athletic Conference South Division game of the season by beating Western Tech 94-81 on Saturday.

All five starters scored in double figures for the Warriors. Aiden Wichmann and Marwan Abdi led the way.

Wichmann, a 6-foot-2 freshman guard from Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, had 20 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Abdi, a 6-4 sophomore forward from St. Peter, also had 20 points to go with eight rebounds and two steals.

Noah Wilts and Zeq Munoz each had 12 points and Que Long added 11 for the Warriors, who led 49-44 at halftime.

Colin Vieth had 17 points to lead Western Tech.

Ridgewater next hosts St. Cloud Technical and Community College at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Willmar.

Ridgewater posted a 2-2 record in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference Duals on Sunday at Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls.

Ridgewater beat Minnesota West 39-18 at Northland 41-6 and lost to Itasca 33-19 and Rochester 49-6.Ridgewater next competes in the Worthington Open beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20.
