College roundup: Framingham State rocks SUNY Canton in women's lacrosse

Mar. 11—FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — Rachel Erickson scored five goals as Framingham State blasted SUNY Canton for 14 goals in the first half en route to an 18-4 nonleague women's lacrosse victory Monday.

Regan Fein added three goals and two assists and Hannah Guerin two goals and three assists for the Rams (3-2). Leah Green and Molly Lanier each scored twice for Framingham State. Julianna Guzi supplied a goal and two assists for the Rams, who outscored the Kangaroos 8-1 in the first quarter.

Maddy Caron led SUNY Canton (1-3) with two goals. Lindsay Wunder and Ava Reynolds scored a goal each.

CRANFIELD ROOKIE OF WEEK

Clarkson freshman Gabby Cranfield was picked as the Liberty League's Rookie of the Week in women's lacrosse after her outings last week.

Cranfield registered 11 points over two games, recording two goals and assist against SUNY Plattsburgh and then a goal and seven assists against Oneonta State.

Cranfield is third on the team in points and second in assists.

BASEBALL

ST. NORBERT 10, SUNY CANTON 3

St. Norbert College scored nine runs in the eighth inning to erase a tight-knit game highlighted by SUNY Canton starter Kayden Guerin in a nonleague game in Auburndale, Fla.

Guerin tossed seven innings, striking out 10 and allowing one run as the Kangaroos led 2-1 entering the eighth. But the Green Knights (3-8) pounded out eight hits for nine runs in the top of the eighth.

Jaden Holgado hit two run-scoring singles in the inning. Evan Calderon added a two-run single and Devin Geary an RBI double in the inning, which also featured two run-scoring hit-by-pitches.

Derek Maldonado hit a two-run pinch-hit double for SUNY Canton (0-8).

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Miles-Ferguson picked for all-star game

Clarkson graduate student Ryan Miles-Ferguson was selected to participate in the annual Division III College All-Star Game.

The game takes place prior to the Division III championship game and is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Miles-Ferguson, Clarkson's leading scorer, is the second player from the program to be selected for the game. Derek Hart participated in the 2017 game.

SOFTBALL

KNIGHTS PAIR HONORED

Clarkson's Katy Aldous and Devin Fitzpatrick each gained Liberty League honors Monday.

Aldous was named Performer of the Week after reaching base all seven times she came to the plate during the Golden Knights doubleheader sweep of SUNY Canton. Aldous was 6-for-6 and was also hit by a pitch.

Fitzpatrick was named the league's Pitcher of the Week as she thew a five-inning perfect game in her only appearance, striking out seven.

TRACK AND FIELD

SIBOLD GETS WEEKLY HONOR

St. Lawrence University's Alli Sibold was named Liberty League Co-Track performer of the Week after placing second overall in the mile run at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.

Sibold set a personal best in completing the course in 4 minutes, 50.97 seconds, which also is a Saints program record.

St. Lawrence finished 24th overall as a team at the meet.
