COLLEGE ROUNDUP: Brown delivers in homecomning

Jan. 25—Schlarman graduate Capria Brown took a trip to the Chicago area over the weekend and she was able to have the best games of her college career.

Brown had 20 points, four rebounds and two assists on Saturday as the Central Michigan women's basketball team lost 70-57 to Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.

She would come back with eight points with five rebounds, three steals and two assists on Sunday as the Chippewas beat Chicago State 66-55.

The Chippewas also played on Wednesday against Ohio. Brown had nine points and five rebounds in a 68-58 loss.

Central Michigan is 3-14 and 1-6 in the MAC and will face Western Michigan on Saturday.

Brown's Schlarman teammate, Anaya Peoples, and the DePaul women's basketball team had a tough game on Sunday when they faced Connecticut.

Peoples had eight points, nine rebounds and two assists for the Blue Demons as they lost 88-51. DePaul is 10-10 and 2-5 in the Big East and will host St. John's today and will face Villanova on Sunday

After an 11-game winning streak, Oakwood graduate Katelyn Young and the Murray State women's basketball team have fell back to the ground.

The Racers lost to Northern Iowa 95-75 on Jan. 19 as Young had 12 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

Murray State then played Drake on Sunday and Young had 28 points with six rebounds and five assists, but the Racers lost 107-98.

The Racers are 12-4 and 5-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference and will face Southern Illinois on Friday

Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin grad Emily Meidel had two points with a rebound on Saturday for the Eastern Illinois women's basketball team, who picked up a 68-60 win over Lindenwood.

The Panthers are 7-12 and 4-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference and will take on Tennessee Tech today and Tennessee State on Saturday.

Danville native Tevin Smith and the Cleveland State men's basketball team broke a two-game losing streak on Saturday with a 75-68 win over Purdue-Fort Wayne.

Smith had seven points and six rebounds for the Vikings, who are 12-8 and 5-4 in the Horizon League and will host Wright State today and Robert Morris on Sunday.

Danville native Sean Houpt and the William & Mary men's basketball team have lost three games in a row, including a 77-64 loss to Campbell on Jan. 18 and 76-69 loss to North Carolina A&T on Saturday.

Houpt had five points, six rebounds and two assists for the Tribe against Campbell and had six points and two rebounds against North Carolina A&T.

The Tribe are 7-12 and 2-4 in the Colonial Athletic Association and will face Hofstra today and Northeastern on Saturday.

The Southern Indiana men's basketball team — coached by Danville native Stan Gouard — extended its losing streak to four.

The Screaming Eagles lost to the University of Arkansas-Little Rock 77-75 on Jan. 18 and 81-70 to Morehead State on Saturday.

Southern Indiana will host Western Illinois today in a game that will be shown on ESPNU
