College basketball: Jefferson CC surges in third quarter to top Cayuga in women's clash
Nov. 20—WATERTOWN — LaKaiya Butcher and Kori Nichols paced Jefferson Community College's third quarter rally in a 65-43 Region 3 women's basketball victory over Cayuga CC on Monday at JCC.
Butcher scored eight of her 17 points and Nichols eight of her 14 points in the Cannoneers' 27-point third quarter to break a 22-22 halftime tie. JCC (5-1 overall, 2-1 league) led 49-32 entering the fourth quarter.
Delaney Wiley added 14 points for the Cannoneers and Abby Raven scored 10.
Haley Mosch scored 17 points for Cayuga (1-4, 0-3), and Avrey Colton added 13.
In the men's game, Jefferson CC defeated Cayuga 81-76 to improve its record to 3-1.
