Coffee Break: Four sports making waves

Despite recent distractions in the athletic department fall sports have not been negatively distracted by the problems within the basketball program at the University of Louisville. Success on the field continues to be the hallmark of Cardinal athletics.

CROSS COUNTRY- In the opening meet of the season against Tennessee both men and women won the individual titles. Sophomore Dorcas Wasike took first in the women’s as six of the seven top finishers were Cards. For the men Albert Kosgei won his first collegiate race with a time of 20:17.42 in the five mile.

MEN’S SOCCER – After defeating Florida Atlantic on Tuesday the team is 9-1-2 on the season and 4-1 in the conference. They are in second place in the Atlantic Division. They are ranked fourth in the country as six ACC teams are in the top seven and play conference foe North Carolina at home Friday.

FIELD HOCKEY – is tied for first in the ACC with a 3-1 record. They are 10-4 on the season and are ranked 12th nationally. Seven ACC teams are in the top 14. They travel to Durham on Saturday to play #5 North Carolina.

VOLLEYBALL – The Cardinal surprise of the fall is volleyball. After finishing the 2016-17 schedule with a 12-18 record they are currently 11-5 and 5-1 in the ACC. They are in fourth place and ranked 26th nationally. They are on a four game win streak and play Clemson at home on Friday night
