Then the Irish showed why they’re the 10th-ranked national seed and considered by many a favorite to reach the 2021 College World Series. The Irish used the middle innings to showcase their offensive firepower in a 10-0 shutout against the Chippewas in South Bend, Indiana, on Friday.

In the sixth inning, the Irish put it away for good tacking on six runs, highlighted by a trio of home runs from Ryan Cole, Niko Kavadas and David LaManna.

Central Michigan will face the loser of Friday's late game between Michigan and Connecticut at noon Saturday, with the loser of that game eliminated from the tournament. Saturday's winner will face the loser of Saturday's winners bracket game on Sunday.
