Clemson will have Justyn Ross back in 2021.

The star wide receiver said Thursday night that he would be returning to school for a fourth season after he missed the 2020 season because of what turned out to be a spinal issue.

Ross injured his neck during spring practice before the 2020 season. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney then announced in June that Ross would end up missing the entire season because of spinal surgery.

Swinney also said at the time that there was a chance Ross’ football career could be over. That appears to not be the case, thankfully.

Ross has 17 TDs in two seasons

Ross had six catches for 148 yards and two TDs against Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl in 2019 and followed that up with six catches for 153 yards and a TD against Alabama as Clemson won the national championship.

As a sophomore in 2019, Ross had 66 catches for 865 yards and eight TDs. Had Ross been healthy in 2020 he could have been a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft.

A huge boost for Clemson’s 2021 offense

Ross’ return to school is big boost for a Clemson offense that will be breaking in a lot of new playmakers in 2021 and gives QB D.J. Uiagalelei an experienced target.

QB Trevor Lawrence is off to the NFL draft and is the presumptive No. 1 pick. RB Travis Etienne was a senior in 2020 after he came back for his final season. And Amari Rodgers and Cornell Powell, Clemson’s top two wide receivers in 2020, were also seniors this past season.

With Etienne, Rodgers and Powell off to the NFL, the Tigers’ leading returning receiver is tight end Braden Galloway. He had 27 catches for 369 yards and two TDs in 2020.
