Virginia Tech's Sept. 30 showdown against the reigning national championship just got even bigger.

From University release:

"BLACKSBURG – The ACC confirmed on Monday that Virginia Tech’s home game against Clemson on Sept. 30 at Lane Stadium will kick off at 8 p.m. The rematch of the 2016 ACC Championship Game against the defending national champions will serve as the 2017 Maroon Effect game – wear maroon, be loud and show your Hokies’ pride! The game is officially a sellout and will be televised nationally by ABC. Fans who did not have the opportunity to purchase a ticket for the Clemson game through the Virginia Tech Ticket Office should visit StubHub, the official secondary ticket market of the Hokies. StubHub backs every qualified order, so fans can buy and sell tickets with 100 percent confidence through FanProtectTM. Individual game tickets to the Clemson game were made available exclusively to Hokie Club members and season ticket holders."

This will be VT's second night game of the season after opening against West Virginia in a Sunday evening contest in week one.

Clemson and VT last met in the 2016 ACC Championship Game, where the Tigers - en route to a national championship - knocked off the Hokies 42-35. This is on pace to be a potential top-10 matchup with Clemson currently ranked No. 2 (and visiting Boston College this weekend) and VT No. 13 (hosting Old Dominion).
