Clemson baseball's Caden Grice named top-five finalist for John Olerud Award

Clemson baseball junior Caden Grice is among five players announced as finalists for the John Olerud Award, the College Baseball Foundation announced Tuesday. The award is presented annually to the best two-way player in college baseball.

Grice, an alumnus of Riverside High School in Greer, joins Jac Caglianone from Florida, T.J. Fondtain from San Diego State, Ryan Ignoffo from Eastern Illinois and Payton Tolle from Wichita State as a finalist.

Grice enters the NCAA Tournament as Clemson's top starting pitcher and one of its best hitters. He has a 3.25 ERA and .195 opponent batting average through 13 starts on the mound. At the plate, Grice is hitting .302 with a .595 slugging percentage and team-high 16 home runs.

Clemson is hosting a regional as the No. 4 seed in the tournament. The Tigers open regional play Friday (1 p.m. ET, ESPN+) against Lipscomb.
