With the 2020 NBA Draft slated for Nov. 18 and free agency to quickly follow, NBA Twitter is full of chatter; especially after the players voted to tentatively start the 2020-21 season on Dec. 22.
With social media buzz of potential trade scenarios for Portland, Frye weighed in on the idea of dealing CJ McCollum.
And he made sure to let everyone, including the Boston Celtics, know what he thinks it would take to get a trade done for McCollum.
If you want CJ McCollum and somebody, you’d have to give me Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart… That’s what I see CJ’s value as.
Frye reiterated for the Blazers to trade McCollum, it couldn’t just be for Celtics wing Marcus Smart. Frye threw in Smart and Gordon Hayward as another potential trade pair.
But what Frye was getting at is a deal for McCollum would have to be an extremely good one because McCollum’s value is so high.
The 29-year-old shooting guard averaged 22.2 points, 4.4 assists, and 4.2 rebounds last season and has been a consistent go-to for the Blazers for years now.
McCollum has proved that he could easily be the number one option on a different team, but he is happy with his current role alongside Damian Lillard in Portland.
One thing is certain: Joe Fann is right – things are about to get crazy in the NBA world.
It’s going to be a crazy month in the NBA. There’s going to be a lot of moving and shaking. It’s going to be fun.
