Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook among NBA stars showing support for WNBA

Before the WNBA tipped off its 25th season, NBA players showed support for their counterparts.

The Phoenix Suns' Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton kicked things off on Thursday night, sporting jerseys of the Phoenix Mercury's Diana Taurasi and Skylar Diggins-Smith before their prime-time win over the Portland Trail Blazers.

Paul wrapped up his postgame interview with the "Inside the NBA" crew with a shoutout to the WNBA.

"Shoutout to the WNBA ladies starting their season tomorrow, too. Appreciate y'all," Paul said, signing off his interview with Ernie Johnson.

Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook show support for WNBA

The Brooklyn Nets, who share the Barclays Center with the New York Liberty, wished the Liberty a good season, leading off with Kevin Durant.

Washington Wizards star Russell Westbrook donned an Elena Delle Donne jersey, then his Wizards teammates took the court for pregame warm-ups in WNBA shirts. On Saturday, Westbrook took in the Sky-Mystics game and also announced a colorway that supports women's empowerment and the WNBA.

Around the NBA, other teams and players joined in the support.

Of course, the Wings poked fun at mixup, especially since the Jets probably should be supporting the home-state New York Liberty. The Jets quickly amended their profile, and doubled down on their Liberty commitment.
