Chris Godwin’s incredible comeback approaching multiple milestones

This time last year, Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin had barely started his long road to recovery after tearing his ACL in a Week 15 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

With the Bucs about to head into another playoff run this time around, Godwin’s incredible comeback is set to eclipse a couple of impressive milestones.

Godwin needs just two receptions in Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Atlanta Falcons to become just the second player in Bucs history to catch 100 passes in a season (Keyshawn Johnson), and he’s just 32 yards away from a 1,000-yard season.

That’s quite the feat for a player who’s barely a year removed from such a serious injury, but Godwin’s amazing recovery process had him back in the starting lineup for Week 1 this season, just shy of nine months after the injury.

Godwin has played his way back to full confidence, and has proven himself to still be one of the most important players on Tampa Bay’s roster. Having him in the lineup this time should make a huge difference as the Bucs hope to chase another Lombardi Trophy.
