Christopher Crawford urges fantasy managers to pick up Cincinnati Reds OF Tommy Pham during his hot streak.
CHRISTOPHER CRAWFORD: Tommy Pham got off to a terrible start to the 2022 season and was hitting 0.038 after the first 10 games of the year. He finished April with a 221 average, which isn't something to celebrate. But you don't have to be a math expert to put together how much better he was in the second half of the month.
The outfielder has been a streaky player throughout his career and appears to be on a hot run that fantasy managers should be looking to take advantage of. The metrics suggest that the outfielder has been considerably better than his current numbers suggest as well. His hard hit percentage is an outstanding 54.9, which ranks him in the 93rd percentile of any player in the sport. His average exit velocity of 94.9 is even better, as it puts him in the 98th percentile. And he's well above average in categories like expected batting average, walk percentage, and sprint speed.
Pham is now 34. And we know the story-- they'll tantalize for a few weeks and cause managers to scratch their heads a few weeks later. Still, the outfield position is a bit thin right now. And the worst thing that happens is you have to drop Pham a few weeks later.
