And while they prepare, they are dealing with a rather unconventional and comical problem.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Chiefs accidentally left an equipment container behind after their Saturday flight into town. The equipment, which includes some footballs, shoulder pads, and helmet, ended up in Newark, New Jersey.
Now, the Chiefs are scrambling to get their equipment back before the start of the team's 4:25 p.m. game against the Patriots. Per Schefter, it will arrive about an hour before the contest. But if it doesn't, the team would reportedly have to forfeit.
The Chiefs' left-behind equipment is expected to arrive between 3 and 3:30 p.m. ET, in time for Sunday's kickoff. If the Chiefs didn't have the equipment by the time the game started they would have to forfeit, per a source.
However, there will be no forfeit, as the Chiefs equipment has arrived at Gilette Stadium. NBC Sports Boston's Camera Guys captured footage of it arriving.

While this was a humorous note ahead of the game, the equipment's late arrival shouldn't impact the game -- save for some players having to get into uniform a bit later than usual.
