Amid the negatives that consumed the Washington Football Team in Week 3 was an injury to one of the most important players on the roster: Chase Young.
The star rookie defensive end left the contest with a groin injury in the second quarter and did not return.
While Young looked active and spry on the sidelines during the second half, it's still unclear how serious the injury is or how much -- if any -- time he could miss.
Following the game, Young provided an update on Twitter:
Was never my plan to start with , it was always his🙏🏾...nothing major tho... I’ll be back.— CY2 (@youngchase907) September 27, 2020
As Young stated, it's never the plan to have an injury hamper one's season early on, especially with Young off to a hot start. Through two weeks the defensive end picked up 2.5 sacks, good enough for the league lead.
Still, it is encouraging to see that Young doesn't view the injury as a major one. More details about the timetable will most likely surface as the team begins its preparation for Week 4.
In order for Washington to find any success in 2020 and begin developing for the future, they'll need their No. 2 pick on the field.
