The Washington Football Team may not have left FedExField with a victory this past Sunday, but the best player on the field was sporting a Burgundy and Gold uniform.
Washington rookie pass rusher Chase Young turned in an incredible performance against Carolina, an outing that earned him the Week 16 Defensive Player of the Week award by Pro Football Focus.
Young finished the game with a 93.7 grade by PFF, the highest single-game mark of his career. It was also the best grade of any defender across the NFL in Week 16.

Young played 93 percent of Washington's defensive snaps against Carolina, finishing with a sack, four tackles, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in the loss.
The pass rusher's performance on Sunday almost surely locked up the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award, too. Over the past five weeks, arguably no defender in the entire NFL has been as disruptive as Young, either.
This week, Washington faced Philadelphia in a must-win game for the NFC East title. In Washington's Week 1 win over the Eagles, Young notched 1.5 sacks and four tackles. The Burgundy and Gold will need a similar effort from him this week if they hope to capture their first division title in five seasons.
