Chamber Music Society of St. Cloud hosting newly-formed trio in March

A newly-formed trio is coming together for its first appearance at the Chamber Music Society of St. Cloud.

"Historically and traditionally and currently, one of the things about chamber music is its usually set up to be played among friends," said Rebecca Scheele, of the music society. "When there are small groups of people playing, those friendships form. These people have local connections in our regional music groups and there’s just an energy when you know each other."

The trio includes Minnesota Orchestra member and violinist Susie Park as well as Minnesota Orchestra member and cellist Silver Ainomäe, in combination with ProMusica Minnesota Artistic Director and pianist Bethel Balge.

The three began talking about playing together as they discussed plans for this summer’s ProMusica Chamber Music Festival.

"We really like to present the best of what we can and we’re really fortunate in Minnesota to have stellar performers like Susie and Silver and Bethel who are trying to create new music and new groups and new performances," Scheele said.

The program includes: Beethoven’s "Cello Sonata No. 4 in C Major, (Op. 102, No 1)," Saint-Saëns "Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso," Turina’s "Piano Trio No. 2, Op 76 in B Minor" and Piazzolla’s "The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires for Piano Trio (arr. Bragato)."

"As a trio they really put together this program for our concert series," Scheele said. "I think always, it’s really delightful when these musicians have picked a program of music they want to play. They selected the musical pieces they want to perform for us…they’re picking this music because they really love it and that comes across in the performance."

The Park- Ainomäe -Balge Trio performance for the Chamber Music Society of St. Cloud begins at 3 p.m. March 13 in the Ruth Gant Recital Hall, St. Cloud State University, 620 Third Ave. S., St. Cloud. There will be a pre-concert discussion, open to the public, prior to the performance. Tickets are available at www.chambermusicstcloud.org/. Masks are required for the performance.

The event is made possible through grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Central MN Arts Board.
