After dealing David Price to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Boston Red Sox certainly are in the market for some quality pitchers -- and they have been for a while now.

After struggling throughout the course of the 2018 season, Boston's search for pitching hasn't necessarily gone as planned. That search has become even more important with Chris Sale coming off an elbow injury, Nathan Eovaldi also returning from an elbow injury, and the likes of Eduardo Rodriguez and Martin Perez needing to prove themselves even more to the Boston front office.

After clearing some cap space by sending Mookie Betts, along with Price, to the Dodgers, Boston's chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom addressed how the Red Sox will go about their continued search to fill the void not only in the starting rotation, but also the bullpen.

"It's certainly a hole that we need to fill," Bloom said on WEEI's "The Greg Hill Show." "And we did spend the winter trying to acquire a lot of different depth options that we think have upside for us that we're going to get a look at this spring... a lot of different guys that could fill in and give us innings.

"And we're going to continue, we want to get a look at them and get our arms around what they can do, see how that shakes out in addition to the guys that were already on hand. And we're going to continue to look around the game of baseball to see if we can add to this pitching staff."

While continuing to look for pitching depth, interim manager Ron Roenicke believes that Brandon Workman "deserves a shot" to be Boston's closer this season. Considering Roenicke's statement, Bloom may be more inclined to focus his sights on acquiring another starter and adding some depth to the bullpen before looking for a true closer.
