Central DeWitt's Walker highlights MAC All-Conference Teams; Clinton has two Honorable Mentions

Feb. 26—Central DeWitt's Lauren Walker helped lead the Sabers to a 15-6 season and a third place finish in the Mississippi Athletic Conference so it was no surprise that she was named to the All-Conference 1st Team on Monday morning.

She led the team with 425 points including shooting 50%from the field. She also led the team with 56 steals, 118 rebounds and was second on third on the team with 46 assists. She is still just a junior.

Her coach, Ron O'Brien was named the MAC Coach of the Year after turning this young team into a 15 win program. Four of their six losses came at the hands of Davenport North and Pleasant Valley, two teams that are state bound in 5A.

Sophomore Ava Putman made her way onto the All-Conference second Team 2nd-Team, putting up 183 points, 83 rebounds 56 assists and 36 steals.

Kinley Birt and Isabelle Pierce were the last two accolade earners for the Sabers, being named All-Conference Honorable Mentions.

Birt scored 166 points, 72 rebounds, 76 assists and 52 steals. Pierce grabbed 79 boards, 30 assists, 46 steals and 64 points in her senior season.

For the Clinton River Queens, they had two players make All-Conference Honorable Mentions in sophomores Carryn Sattler and Aubrey Fergurson.

Sattler was the team leader in points, scoring 196 while grabbing 115 rebounds, 36 steals and 14 assists. Fergurson led the River Queens with 189 rebounds, notching 13 steals and scoring 119 points.

Clinton finished the year ninth in the MAC with a 2-16 conference record and a 4-18 overall record.
