The Boston Celtics enter Tuesday's much-anticipated matchup with the Golden State Warriors with five losses in six games following the NBA All-Star break, but all of the negativity could begin to dissipate with a statement win over the defending champions.
The Celtics actually have reason to be confident at Oracle Arena. Boston has beaten Golden State on its home floor twice in the last three seasons, including a 13-point win in March of 2017. Just about all of the games between these teams over the last three years have been competitive, including January's matchup at TD Garden, where the Warriors survived a late Celtics rally to earn a 115-111 victory.
Another reason for Celtics optimism is health. Boston listed no players on its injury report for this game, which has been a rare sight in recent months. Conversely, the Warriors will be without star shooting guard Klay Thompson, who's dealing with right knee soreness.
