The Boston Celtics will see what life is like without their second-leading scorer Wednesday night.
It's the first game Tatum will miss this season, but the good news is that Boston has rebounded from a three-game losing streak to win it last two contests by a combined 47 points.
Can the Celtics win their third straight game Wednesday night, or will Tatum's absence open the door for a Pistons upset?
Below are our moneyline, point spread and point total predictions for Celtics-Pistons, as well as two NBA locks against the spread.
(All odds provided by WestGate Superbook.)
Detroit Pistons at Boston Celtics, 7 p.m. ET
Moneyline: The Pistons' last two losses (vs. Chicago, vs. New Orleans) were to teams the Celtics (-500) just handled with ease. Even if Boston plays down to its competition, Detroit is too bad of a team to beat the Celtics.
Point Spread: I actually think Tatum's absence will help Boston play with a little urgency. Gordon Hayward and Jaylen Brown make the most of their increased touches and help the Celtics (-9) cruise to a double-digit victory.
Point Total: The point total has gone under in six of Boston's last seven games against Eastern Conference opponents, and I don't trust the Pistons' offense enough to push this over the 218 point total. I'll take the UNDER.
Darren's record picking the Celtics' moneyline, point spread and point total: 55-28-1 (65.5% success rate)
NBA Locks of the Night
Brooklyn Nets at Philadelphia 76ers (-7): Is there a more Jekyll-and-Hyde team than the Sixers? Philly has lost its last six road games but is 18-2 at home. The Nets haven't won a road game since Dec. 17, so I'll back Dr. Jekyll.
Toronto Raptors at Oklahoma City Thunder (-1.5): The Thunder are 8-2 in their last 10 games, a run that includes a win in Toronto over the limping Raptors. I like them taking care of business at home.
Darren's record picking NBA locks against the spread: 28-27-1 (50% success rate)
