Celtics vs. Nets odds: Best NBA picks, predictions with Kyrie Irving out again

Darren Hartwell

Looking for a good Black Friday deal? You don't even have to leave your couch.

The Boston Celtics are in Brooklyn on Friday for a matinee contest with the Nets that tips off at noon ET.

The Celtics still won't see old friend Kyrie Irving in this matchup, as the Nets guard is sidelined with a shoulder injury that kept him out of Wednesday's game at TD Garden.

Irving wasn't pleased with some of the vitriol he received as a result of not traveling to Boston, but bettors looking for an edge in Celtics-Nets should be pleased he won't be out there Friday.

Here are our betting predictions for Celtics-Nets, as well as two locks against the spread from a hefty NBA slate.

Boston Celtics at Brooklyn Nets, 12 p.m. ET

Moneyline: Nothing has changed since two nights ago. Kemba Walker's neck looks just fine after he dropped 39 points Wednesday night, and Brooklyn's best player still is out. No reason not to ride with the Celtics (-160) again.

Point Spread: The Nets aren't that much better at home (5-3) than on the road (4-6). Brooklyn will play better in its own gym, but the Celtics (-3.5) still have the superior depth and talent and probably should be getting more points here.

Point Total: NBA players are creatures of habit, and playing a professional basketball game at noon is definitely not part of their routine. Expect some rust as both sides sweat out the turkey and take the UNDER on the 217 point total.

Darren's record picking the Celtics' moneyline, point spread and point total: 27-14-1

NBA Locks of the Night

Golden State Warriors (+12) at Miami Heat: The Warriors are terrible, but Draymond Green still makes a difference: Golden State won its fourth game of the season in Green's return Wednesday night. The Heat take care of business, but Green helps prevent a rout.

New Orleans Pelicans at Oklahoma City Thunder (-4): The Pelicans are 1-7 in their last eight games in Oklahoma City and are coming off a draining home loss to Anthony Davis and the Lakers. Without Derrick Favors and Lonzo Ball, they'll drop another one to the scrappy Thunder.

Darren's record picking NBA locks against the spread: 14-13-1
