The Boston Celtics are right back to playing shorthanded.
The Celtics appeared to put their recent struggles behind them in Monday's statement win. But there's evidence to suggest Wednesday's game at TD Garden won't be easy.
Here are our betting predictions for Celtics-Grizzlies, as well as two NBA locks against the spread.
(All odds provided by WestGate Superbook.)
Memphis Grizzlies at Boston Celtics, 7:30 p.m. ET
Moneyline: Brown's absence hurts, but the Celtics have won seven straight against Memphis and haven't lost to the Grizzlies at home since March 2015. Jayson Tatum has another strong game to help the Celtics (-280) get it done.
Point Spread: The C's dropped two games in a row without Brown last week, and the Memphis has been playing everyone tough lately, even in the games it's lost. I like the Grizzlies (+7) to cover here.
Point Total: The Grizzlies haven't scored fewer than 107 points since Dec. 4 but own the NBA's fourth-worst defense (116 points allowed per game). That explains the sky-high 231.5 point total ... which is too high for my liking. I'll take the UNDER.
Darren's record picking the Celtics' moneyline, point spread and point total: 58-34-1 (62.3% success rate)
NBA Locks of the Night
Los Angeles Lakers (-11.5) at New York Knicks: You know LeBron James and the Lakers didn't enjoy the Celtics running them out of the building Monday night. They'll take their frustrations out on the hapless Knicks.
Denver Nuggets (+8.5) at Houston Rockets: The Nuggets will be without three members of their starting lineup Wednesday, but the Rockets have looked awful over their last five games. Even if Houston can snap its losing streak, Denver should cover.
Darren's record picking NBA locks against the spread: 32-29-1 (51.7% success rate)
