Celtics Talk: Eddie House on how trade rumors will impact Jaylen Brown

How will trade rumors impact Jaylen Brown? Eddie House explains originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

The Kevin Durant-to-Boston speculation can finally be put to rest. The Brooklyn Nets announced earlier this week they will not be trading their superstar forward after all.

That means barring any surprises, Jaylen Brown -- the rumored centerpiece of a potential Durant trade -- will help lead the Celtics on their quest for Banner 18 next season. C's head coach Ime Udoka and president Brad Stevens kept Brown in the loop while trade rumors swirled, but it's fair to wonder where the 25-year-old's head is at heading into the 2022-23 campaign.

Forsberg: C's future in focus as Durant drama fizzles

On a brand new episode of the Celtics Talk Podcast, former Celtic Eddie House joined Chris Forsberg and discussed how being the subject of trade talks will impact Brown's mindset.

"It's a part of basketball. It's the business of basketball and I think that no matter what you do, you are always expendable," House said. "You always can get traded. It doesn't necessarily have to be to a place you want to go. ...

"To be even mentioned in that trade, he could look at it as flattery. Like, this team really wants me over Kevin Durant. You can look at it however you want. Glass half full, glass half empty. But I'm kind of glad they're running it back. They have that experience."

House is happy to see the Celtics' core will be kept intact, but he wouldn't have been upset about a Durant deal given Brown's contract situation.

"If a deal went down, I would definitely understand that side as well," House said. "Jaylen has two years left and he might not be here, maybe we could get something right now and Kevin has four years. ... Not saying that Jaylen can't make leaps this year and help them deliver a championship."

The Celtics will begin camp next month. Opening Night is scheduled for Oct. 18 vs. the Philadelphia 76ers at TD Garden.
