Celtics’ Jaylen Brown gives look into his sneaker free agency

Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown is a sneaker free agent now after his deal with Adidas expired, so he has been rocking a bunch of different brands while he chooses which company to sign with next. Speaking to the press post-practice recently, Brown gave some clarity into what that search will look like. He said the approach between players and shoe companies may evolve after staying fairly stagnant for the past 20 years.

“To be honest, I’m at the point in my career where I’ve been able to establish my brand,” Brown said Wednesday. “So I want the shoe company to go away to match kind of some of my brand values.”

Brown has been seen on the court in Under Armour, Nike and New Balances since his deal expired.

Looking for the brand of the future

“So, I’m looking for a shoe company that’s progressive, cutting edge, has and keeps an open mind,” Brown explained. “That’s also leaning towards doing things in the community, as well as environment-friendly, sustainable, recyclable biodegradable products. I’m looking for the brand of the future, not the brand of the past.”

Brown is known for his activism and ability to use his voice in places where he thinks change is necessary. For him to look for an eco-friendly option for his next landing spot aligns with what he has done previously.

He also has his own brand 7uice, which sells hoodies, beanies, t-shirts and other various merchandise items with his logo on them.
