Jaylen earns shout-out from C's legend Bill Russell after historic night originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

When you catch the attention of the most successful player in NBA history, you're doing something right.

Jaylen Brown set an NBA record Sunday night with 33 points in just 19 minutes of action as the Boston Celtics routed the Cleveland Cavaliers at TD Garden.

Among those watching Brown's scoring outburst was Celtics legend Bill Russell -- who liked what he saw enough to tweet about it.

Russell doesn't tweet about the Celtics very often, so this is high praise from the C's icon, who won 11 NBA championships in Boston as a player and two more as a coach.

Brown is a huge fan of Russell, who also was one of the NBA's first Black superstars and has been a champion for civil rights and racial justice. The 24-year-old even visited Russell's statue in Boston's City Hall last November.

So, Brown has to be thrilled about this shout-out, and his retweet of Russell's tweet suggests that's the case.

Brown has scored 75 points in his last two games and is averaging 27.3 points per contest, sixth-most in the NBA. He'll look to stay hot Monday night when the Celtics visit the Chicago Bulls at 9 p.m. ET.
