Celtics injury update: Aaron Nesmith out ‘at least a few games’ more as Boston heads west

The Boston Celtics will start their looming final West Coast trip of the 2021-22 NBA season a little thin on the wing with word from Celtics head coach Ime Udoka that second-year small forward Aaron Nesmith will not be able to travel with the team to start the trip.

Udoka related that while there was “nothing new” with regards to Nesmith’s availability overall, there’s some hope he could return to action soon with the team “targeting later in the trip, if possible” for his return. Per the coach, the South Carolina native is “continuing to get his work done getting some shots up, (and) a little more movement day by day.”

Still, Udoka believes Nesmith is “at least a few games away still.”

The Celtics travel to face the Golden State Warriors after a short gap in their otherwise-busy schedule on Wednesday, March 16.

From there, they continue on their brief West Coast swing to play at the Sacramento Kings (March 18), the Denver Nuggets (March 20), and then the Oklahoma City Thunder the next night on March 21 in their penultimate back-to-back before heading home to face the Utah Jazz on March 23.
