Celtics ‘take their foot off the gas’ vs. the Hawks, lose after leading by 30 points

It is not every day that the Boston Celtics drop a 30-point lead in most seasons, and even less so in this one, with Boston scoring at historic levels while dominating the NBA’s 2023-24 regular season. But lose they did on the road to the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night at State Farm Arena, falling 120-118 as the Hawks outplayed the Celtics in the game’s second half.

Fans were justifiably irked by the outcome, with familiar over-reliance on isolation play and a lack of reliance on sound defensive principles the primary culprits behind this collapse, as they tend to be.

NBC Sports Boston’s Eddie House, Brian Scalabrine and Drew Carter joined Tom Giles to talk over the jarring collapse for the Celtics on the most recent episode of the “Celtics Postgame Live” show.
