CC Sabathia takes role as special adviser with Yankees

Per YES Network, former pitcher CC Sabathia has joined the Yankees’ front office as a special adviser.

Sabathia, 39, retired at the end of the 2019 season. He suffered a left shoulder subluxation in the final start of his career, Game 4 of the ALCS against the Astros.

The lefty spent 19 seasons in the majors, 11 of which were with the Yankees as well as seven and a half with the Indians and a half-season with the Brewers. Overall, he went 251-161 with a 3.74 ERA and 3,093 strikeouts over 3,577 1/3 innings.

Sabathia is tied with Bob Gibson for 47th on the all-time leaderboard for wins. He’s 16th in strikeouts and is one of only 18 pitchers in the 3,000 strikeout club.
