CBS Sports still not giving up on Bills’ Josh Allen in QB rankings

The Buffalo Bills are looking to shake off a bumpy start to the 2021 season in Week 2 against the Miami Dolphins.

But their season-opening loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t come without its damage. Not only did the Bills fall to 0-1, quarterback Josh Allen dropped in CBS Sports‘ weekly QB rankings.

But not all is lost.

Overall, Allen did fall a tough three spots in their QB poll heading into Week 2, down to No. 7. However, CBS Sports does start by starting the obviously.

We’re only through Week 1, people.

Here’s the breakdown:

It’s just one game, but it’s also possible his lights-out MVP candidacy of 2020 was the mountaintop, at least production-wise. He’s got all the tools, but he’s got to be smart about the ball and his own body.

Allen dropped some spots, but he certainly was not hit hardest by CBS. In fact, he wasn’t even the worst quarterback in the game he played, per the outlet’s ranking.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger dropped a whooping nine spots down to No. 23.

Ouch.

But as CBS states, it is just one game for Allen. And as CBS does not say, it wasn’t all on him.

Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott called the play and penalties taken by Buffalo’s offensive line “unacceptable” following the loss.

That group needs to be better… and there’s a good chance they will be because thankfully, they don’t play the Steelers’ defensive line every week.
