Cayuga fishing hooks another win

Nov. 20—CEDAR CREEK LAKE — The Cayuga bass fishing team came home with the gold in the Texas High School Bass Association Central Division Tournament this past weekend at Cedar Creek Lake in Log Cabin. The win marked the second victory in three tournaments so far in the season for the Wildcats. Cayuga currently is ahead of Scurry-Rosser by two points, 293-291, for Team of the Year honors within the division.

The Wildcats would place three teams in the top-15 in the win, with the team of Hayden Goolsby and Colt Mullican leading the way. Hayden and Mullican, with boat captain Shane Goolsby, would bring in their limit of five fish, weighing in at 14.44 lbs, securing a second place individual team finish. The pair split a $1,000 scholarship and earned $200 Lew's gift cards for their effort.

Molly White and Blake Shook finished fifth in the team standings, and also brought in five fish, weighing in at 11.94 lbs. Landon Reed and Jamison Lyddon, who currently are in seventh place for Angler Team of the Year, placed 15th overall with their five fish coming in at 9.79 lbs.

Bass fishing season is now closed for fall competition and will resume in the spring semesters of 2024. The Wildcats have a long wait ahead of them for their next chance to get out on the water, with the next tournament not being held until Feb. 10 at Lake Fork.
