Casualty killed off David Hide's teenage son Ollie in tonight's shocking episode (June 18).

The special 80-minute edition, which was delayed by a week due to its sensitive content, finally aired on Saturday night, and saw Ollie and his sinister friend Rob carry out a mass shooting at their school.

Ollie's behaviour had become a cause of concern for David in recent months, as he'd become increasingly isolated following his bullying ordeal.

Viewers have seen Ollie be taunted by his peers over the past few weeks, with fellow schoolboy Rob seemingly being his only support.

When the ED learned of the school shooting in tonight's dark scenes, David's initial concerns were for his son's safety.

As the school's students and teachers desperately tried to get themselves to safety, the gunmen were eventually unveiled as Ollie and Rob – who had set timers on their phones, with plans to kill as many students as they could, and then themselves.

Ollie did end up sparing his friend – and Faith's daughter Natalia –but struggled to turn the gun on himself.

Ollie was eventually shot by Rob, who later died from injuries he sustained while trying to outrun the police officers.

As Ollie was taken into the ED, it didn't take long before David learned of his involvement from a traumatised Natalia.

As David failed to process the news, the situation intensified when the police turned up looking for Ollie, just as he was being transferred to theatre for a life-saving operation.

Ollie was eventually arrested by Ffion, but quickly went into cardiac arrest. The team were unable to save him, leaving David heartbroken.

Harry Collett has played Ollie intermittently since 2016.

Casualty continues with a double episode on Saturday, June 25 on BBC One. All episodes are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
