Carthage drops close game at Ozark

Feb. 7—Carthage took a lead into halftime at Ozark High School during a makeup game on Wednesday night but was unable to maintain that advantage as it fell 62-60 in enemy territory.

The Tigers were ahead by 7, 31-24 at halftime.

The Ozark Tigers exploded for 21 points in the third quarter to cut their deficit to just 2 points at 47-45. They continued that second-half success and outscored the visiting Tigers 17-13 in the final frame.

Carthage was led by Justin Ray's 23 points and five 3-pointers. Landon Ray added 11 and three triples while Trent Yates scored 10 and made two shots from beyond the arc.

Ozark got 23 from Kylan Pickren and three 3-pointers. Jace Whatley scored 20 while Hudson Roberts totaled 17 and made three treys as well.

Carthage is now 13-7 and 3-2 in Central Ozark Conference play. Ozark improved to 8-13 and has won two straight with home wins over Branson and now Carthage in back-to-back nights.
