Carter-Vickers' US side progress to Copa America

Cameron Carter-Vickers will be returning for club duty breathing a slight sigh of relief.

The Celtic centre-back's United States national team qualified for next year's Copa America - and sealed a place in the Concacaf Nations League semi-final - despite losing their second leg quarter-final against Trinidad and Tobago.

Following a 3-0 first-leg win in Texas last week, Antonee Robinson put the US four up on aggregate.

But Sergino Dest's petulant red card offered a glimmer of hope to the hosts, who were 2-1 up on the night by the 57th minute through goals from Reon Moore and Alvin Jones.

However, the US defence - including Carter-Vickers for the full 90 - ensured the aggregate scoreline stayed at 4-2.
