Carson Wentz trade rumors pick up steam, Bears fans NOT happy originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Another day, another round of wild quarterback trade rumors. After nothing but Deshaun Watson rumors earlier this month, pundits have started exploring other options. We heard about Derek Carr on Wednesday, Kirk Cousins and Jimmy Garoppolo on Thursday, now Friday’s plat du jour: Carson Wentz. And as always, the Bears seem to come up again and again.
Usually, Bears fans are extraordinarily hyped for each fresh tweet linking a QB to Halas Hall. However, Friday was a different story, with most fans (and even some media members) expressing extreme displeasure with a possible trade that would bring Wentz to Chicago.
If the Bears actually trade anything of significance for Carson Wentz, I might stay in Tampa, buy a house boat, and just let myself drift out to sea.

As a Bears fan, why would I want my team to deal any pick and a player for one of the worst statistical QBs last year, who will make the 3rd most among QBs in 2021?
Not a rhetorical question. Legitimately curious.— Adam K (@Adam407) February 5, 2021
From the guy who brought you “Trade a draft pick for an overpaid Nick Foles” comes his new blockbuster hit “Trade more draft picks for an overpaid Carson Wentz”

Carson Wentz has played 16 games in the regular season just twice in a 5 year career.
But, go ahead and do you Pace.— Buzz (@BuzzOnTap) February 5, 2021
If the Bears sign Carson Wentz, I will officially declare the Kansas City Chiefs as my favorite team in football. (As if I already hadn’t)

Wentz is one of the more enigmatic quarterbacks rumored to be on the market this offseason. On the one hand, he looked like an MVP in 2017, leading the team to an 11-2 record before a torn ACL ended his season. As you likely remember, current Bears QB Nick Foles replaced Wentz and led the Eagles to a Super Bowl win over the Patriots.
On the other hand, Wentz looked truly awful last season. He finished the year tied for the league lead with 15 interceptions, despite only starting 12 games. Wentz was so ineffective, Doug Pederson benched Wentz for rookie Jalen Hurts midway through Week 13, and Wentz never saw the field again.
While no one really knows where everyone will land when the QB carousel finally comes to a stop, we do know it will at least be an interesting ride.
