Carson Wentz threads the needle, makes possibly the best TD throw of his career for Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles have had a rough season, and quarterback Carson Wentz has had trouble finding a rhythm. He struggled against the Washington Redskins on Sunday, but in true Wentz form he also found an opportunity to show off his brilliant arm.

With six minutes left in the third quarter, the Eagles were at the 15-yard line and Wentz was ready to throw on second-and-9. But Wentz found himself in trouble once he got the ball. He couldn’t find an open receiver and started getting some pressure. So he ran, and for a second it looked like he might try for the first down himself.

Instead, Wentz threw on the run and rocketed the ball down the sideline. It went right by several Washington players, and momentarily looked like it had been intercepted, but running back Miles Sanders rose from the ground, ball in hand. Wentz managed to find his man on the back corner of the end zone, and put the ball right in his hands.

Wentz has made a lot of touchdown throws in his career, but that one might be the best. He was under pressure, searching for an open man, trying to stay nimble, and he managed to drill a TD throw to a man at the corner of the end zone. It might be hard to see with the Eagles flailing at times this season, but Wentz is still a special quarterback. He proved that again by throwing the go-ahead TD pass with 26 seconds left in the Eagles’ 37-27 victory over Washington.
