Carole Baskin says Joe Exotic resentencing decision was 'fair'

After appearing in an Oklahoma City court during Joe Exotic's resentencing Friday, Carole Baskin shared her thoughts about the judge's decision with her social media following.

Joe Exotic, who's real name is Joseph Maldonado, was originally sentenced to 22 years in prison in 2020 after being found guilty of hiring hit men to kill Baskin. Joe Exotic, the focus of the Netflix show "Tiger King," maintains his innocence.

In 2021, a federal appeals court ordered he be resentenced because of a judicial mistake in determining the appropriate sentencing guidelines for his actions. U.S. District Judge Scott Palk decided to trim almost one year off of his original sentence Friday.

Baskin told her followers on TikTok and Instagram that thought the decision was "fair."

"Thank you very much to everybody who helped make sure that he is kept off the street," Baskin said in a selfie-video. "I think the tigers who he bred for life in a cage will be absolutely elated to know that he is going to spend the next many years in a cage for the things that he did."

@carolebaskincat I think the judge was fair and I believe 21 years to be just for someone convicted of trying to hire at least 2 people to kill me. #carolebaskin ♬ original sound - carole.baskin
