Carmelo Anthony returned to Portland and all of Rip City rejoiced originally appeared on NBC Sports Northwest
Despite playing less than a full season for the Portland Trail Blazers, Carmelo Anthony quickly became one of Rip City's favorite players.
But would the love affair continue, or would Melo be that summer fling that ended when life got in the way?
Now we know the answer.
Melo reportedly wanted to repay the franchise for taking a chance on him last season after he hadn't played in the NBA for nearly a year. The signing paid off big-time with the 10-time All-Star averaging 15.4 points per game and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 43.0 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from three in 58 games played.
Now, he's back and ready to help Portland contend in the Western Conference.
Trail Blazers shooting guard CJ McCollum tweeted his excitement about the news.
So did Ant.
Rip City rejoiced accordingly, too.
