The NBA has been at the forefront of promoting social justice with their platform and taking a stand against police brutality and systematic racism.
Friday morning, Melo posted a photo of himself while also sharing a powerful message featuring the Social Change Fund.
Do we need the police? Yes. We need police. But we need them to do their job and we need to hold them accountable. -- Carmelo Anthony on his Instagram account
Anthony is one of three NBA superstars to launch the Social Change Fund this summer including Chris Paul and Dwyane Wade, which set out to invest in and support organizations, focused on empowering communities of color and advocating for the human rights of All Black Lives."
In his Instagram post, Melo added this quote from Martin Luther King Jr.:
True peace is not the absence of tension, it is the presence of justice. - MLK, Jr.
The 17-year-veteran advocated for social change in his caption, saying, support the work and the action. We need a village to affect the change we desire. The time is now and our village needs us! Let's organize. @socialchangefnd

The time is now has been the feeling surrounding the NBAs stoppage in play over the past few days.
Melo, along with CP3, and D-Wade, announced the launch of the Social Change Fund on July 22, 2020.
The Social Change Fund aims to:
Our mission is to invest in and support organizations that are working to liberate Black people and advocate for indigenous people and communities of color through the lens of policy solutions, community representation and narrative change. Our partner organizations work to accelerate social change and sustainably build a fair, equitable society.
Anthony, Paul, and Wade have been outspoken activists for social justice and equality. Many people remember their impactful speech at the 2016 ESPYS in which the trio called on their fellow professional athletes to promote social change.
The Social Change Fund will support critical and timely issues impacting the Black community. Our priorities are ending police brutality, championing criminal justice reform, enabling economic equity, supporting voting and civic engagement, and advocating for the human rights of all Black lives.
