He may be 40 years old and gone from Major League Baseball but Carlos Ruiz is still launching bombs.

Down 3-2 in a seven-game series, Ruiz's Chiriqui team in Panama needed a win to force a Game 7 in the Major National Baseball Championship and the former Phillie helped in a big way, hitting a solo home run Tuesday night to propel his team to a decisive Game 7 with an 8-0 win.

We last saw Ruiz in the majors in 2017 with the Seattle Mariners. Despite expressing his desire to play in the bigs in 2018, Ruiz is now playing in Panama, in the city where he played high school baseball.

Information on this baseball league is pretty sparse on the Internet, so there's not much more information available, but it's just nice to see Ruiz out there still playing the game he loves.

Here's hoping that maybe we'll see Carlos back in Philadelphia some day, perhaps as a coach in the city where he made so many memories.
